About Cuscal

Cuscal is the power behind payments.

As a fully licensed Authorised Deposit-taking institution (ADI) purpose-built for the business-to-business market, Cuscal provides the complete ecosystem — licences, connectivity, processing and data services — that banks, fintechs, corporates and government agencies rely on to serve their customers.

Today, Cuscal’s infrastructure connects 68 Australian banks and 176 fintechs and corporates to the full breadth of Australia’s payment systems. More than 4.2 billion transactions go through Cuscal’s infrastructure each year. Cuscal processes 15% of all card transactions on behalf of clients, with 11 million cards in circulation. Its open banking platform provides Consumer Data Right (CDR) data to 42% of the organisations who access it in Australia, and more than 23 million bank accounts are protected by its fraud and financial crime prevention services.

This scale is underpinned by more than 60 years of continuous investment and innovation. From enabling Australia’s first ATM in 1977 to becoming the first certified PayTo initiator in 2022, Cuscal has helped define each successive era of payments. That legacy translates into a depth of capability across real-time payments, card issuing and acquiring, fraud monitoring, open banking and data services, all delivered within a single regulated organisation.

What distinguishes Cuscal is not only the breadth of what it provides, but how it provides it. As an agnostic partner with no competing interest in its clients’ customers, Cuscal integrates seamlessly across the full payments value chain — removing complexity, reducing risk and enabling clients to focus entirely on their own customer experience.

For the businesses redefining payments, Cuscal is the partner built to take them there.
